I've compiled a note of the items you should try, and the things you REALLY should stay away from. Keep reading to find out.
But first, a quick summary:
$17 all you can eat sushi?
Count me in.
All in all, for the price, this place isn't bad. I likely will visit again. When I do, however, I'll make sure to stay the hell away from the octopus sushi.
I mean it.
Stay. The. Hell. Away.
It's been an hour since I ate it, and I'm still shuddering at the mere thought of it.
Everything else is as you would expect from a $17 all you can eat sushi lunch place. Not exquisite, but not horrible.
The service is fine. (Yes, just fine. Not much else to say).
The mango ice cream is top notch. -

Server was not able to explain how to order from the menu.
They don't have a sheet with names of dishes from the kitchen and sushi bar, instead they ask you to write it down. Then the server comes over and tells you that some of the items need to be listed differently.
I had chicken teriyaki, gyoza, and salmon skin tempura. They were all cold, not hot or warm, but cold. I had to send it back.
The spicy tuna is not good at all, completely dripping with mayonnaise and pink in color. It smelled. The Golden Dragon roll was ok, but the tempura was made this afternoon, completely soggy and cold inside.
The servers are not at all attentive, no one comes out to serve you, you have to keep calling them over.
The food and service is very poor at best, and I do not recommend anyone to spend your money here. -

I've been going to this place for years! Great food, good customer service. All you can eat for $17? I mean.... Yes please! I specifically love the salmon roll sushi they make there, i've yet to have another sushi restaurant create it! I'd recommend this place for every occasion! I've taken all my ex boyfriends there and i hope they never go back to my favourite spot! (haha!!)

I have been to this place a couple of times in the past so I recommended it to my cousin's wife. To our disappointment, their beef teriyaki was tough. When she asked the owner, she was told "it's just the beef that we get from our supplier, we already complained to them," and the son interjected, "no one complains about our beef." The soft shell cran I ordered tasted like it was fries in rancid oil. Awful dining experience!

We placed a huge takeout order the other night, and it promptly arrived in about 25 minutes. All was accounted for and presented nicely, and for the really affordable price, the sushi tasted great. Kuni Sushi Ya will definitely be somewhere we will order in again from, and we can't wait to try the all-you-can-eat option too.
